Are you a parent or carer of a child or young person with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities? The law says you can get information, advice and support.
The service covers the East Riding of Yorkshire, with our officers offering impartial and confidential advice to support parents, carers, and children. SENDIASS officers will support parents and carers in meetings with education settings, over the phone, through email, appealing decisions and at SEND Tribunals.
Our SENDIASS officers are legally trained through IPSEA (Independent Parental Special Education Advice) and use this knowledge to help empower parents and carers with their rights in regards to SEND. All of the information and advice we provide is firmly based within law and the SEND Code of Practice. It is not biased towards any point of view or local policy. We know what the law states and what nurseries, schools, colleges and Local Authorities must provide.
Your queries and the information you provide are confidential and we will only share details with your consent. The only exception to this will be in relation to a concern for someone's safety.
